Preparation scope and documents

What is a marital settlement agreement?

A marital settlement agreement, often called an MSA, records the terms spouses have agreed on. This service turns your agreed terms and specific directions into a written document for your review. It does not negotiate a settlement, recommend what you should accept or decide how property and debts should be divided.

The California Courts written-agreement guide discusses the purpose of an agreement and places to obtain legal help. Our preparation service does not replace advice about whether particular terms protect your interests.

What the preparation price covers

Each client personally reviews and signs their own required documents. A shared email address does not replace either person’s approval or signature.

Any accepted submission is one flat charge for the covered work. Actual applicable court and provider fees remain separate; self-filers handle those costs directly.

Already purchasing FL-100 Post-service?

The FL-100 Post-service package has an optional current price MSA-preparation add-on, for a current price service subtotal. Do not purchase standalone MSA again for the same work already included in that package.

Does the agreement go to the court?

A signed agreement can form part of a divorce judgment submission. An agreement on its own is not automatically a complete judgment packet. The actual case route and required accompanying documents must be checked. California Courts describes how final documents and written agreements fit together.

An MSA is not by itself a complete court judgment packet. You review the agreement and any required accompanying judgment documents. Submission is separate and must be specifically requested and accepted.

Common questions

Can you help us reach an agreement?

This is preparation from already-agreed terms, not mediation or negotiation. Obtain legal advice or other appropriate help if you disagree or need someone to recommend terms.

Is the preparation fee charged per person?

No. The standalone fee is one current price preparation total for the two client parties together.

Does this finish the whole divorce case?

No. Standalone MSA preparation is not the full divorce process. A court judgment and any other required steps remain separate from drafting the agreement.

What should we provide before preparation?

Provide the agreed terms, relevant existing drafts and case records through the intake and the private instructions for your matter. We ask about missing or conflicting information rather than inventing terms.

County coverage and review

A county listing does not guarantee that every request or submission method is accepted. Compare service coverage and restrictions.

An intake is a request for review, not a signed agreement or permission to charge. Court and other outside-provider fees are separate from Ven Document Services LLC preparation fees.
